Zach Banner on Twitter today said he's staying off social media until he gets a new contract signed. Banner is set to become an unrestricted free agent next month, but it's expected that the Steelers will re-sign him.
Banner is currently training out in Redondo Beach, Calif. at Allegiate Gym to get ready for the 2021 season after suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 1 against the Giants this past year. It's expected that the Steelers will sign him to a one-year prove it deal. Banner told Mark Kaboly of The Athletic a few weeks ago that he's betting on himself once again in 2021.
“I had a conversation with my agent, and we will keep that on the hush-hush right now, but yes, I am betting on myself again some way, somehow,” Banner said.
Banner also told Kaboly that Tomlin told him during the season last year that he's looking for him to be a starter at one of the offensive tackle positions in 2021.
“Coach T looked at me and said, ‘You are my answer for 2021, so I need you to focus on your knee, don’t worry about anything else.’ That was the best thing that I could’ve heard,” Banner said.
