Right now, according to Over the Cap, the Steelers are at $3,625,086 million of cap space. That doesn't leave much room for the Steelers to make any moves. However, we need to stay positive.
I am disappointed right now because of all we have lost. I feel like because this is Ben Roethlisberger's last season, we should've made some more extensions to free up cap space to bring in some weapons to help him out.
The Steelers could have freed up cap space by extending Nelson. They could have also reworked a few contracts to kick some of the money down the road. I just feel like that could have freed up significant money.
A real kick in the teeth was the cutting of Vince Williams who continues to play well. I don't think he was the player to cut. Personally, I never want to cut anyone. However, in that case I think we needed to cut Vince in order to bring back Banner and stay cap compliant.
Some fans might be mad at the Banner contract. I am personally not mad. That is a bargain for a Tackle. Just look at Trent William's monster deal and be thankful we are only on the hook for around 10 million over 2 years.
Well, keep the faith Steeler Nation. We will see what this team looks like by Week 1 and perhaps we will be happy with the way this team looks. I just feel like our key pieces are still present, just need some good playmakers in the draft in order to contend in 2021.
