The tampering phase opened up yesterday for the NFL. All is quiet on the JuJu Smith-Schuster front. Although I did see a small report yesterday on CBS Sports saying the 49ers and Raiders are showing interest in JuJu. There is still plenty of wide receiver free agents on the market and it looks like the Dolphins have an interest in Kenny Golladay.
The problem is the Patriots have now signed coveted Raiders Nelson Agholor which could open up for heavy interest in JuJu Smith-Schuster now by the Raiders. Their goal going into the 2021 offseason was to lock up Agholor. As time goes on and teams start taking wide receivers over JuJu Smith-Schuster the market is going to shrink because the cap has lowered by about $18 million this offseason due to Covid-19. That could be good news for the Steelers, but there is said to be only about a 10 percent chance of JuJu coming back.
Ben Roethlisberger has been vocal about keeping JuJu since the end of the season. It was reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo after the Steeler's loss to the Browns that Ben Roethlisberger has told the Steelers front office he would like to keep JuJu Smith-Schuster in the offseason. Now Garafalo is saying both the Steelers organization and Ben Roethlisberger wanted to keep JuJu Smith-Schuster. The problem is JuJu is telling his teammates that he is likely to head elsewhere for the next portion of his career. So, it doesn't look like JuJu Smith-Schuster will be back in Pittsburgh says, Garafalo.
