The Steelers have QB Kyle Trask Ranked ahead of at least 1 Top Quarterback Prospect in the NFL Draft

The National Media have been speculating if the Pittsburgh Steelers will be selecting a quarterback in the 2021 NFL draft. As the Steelers stand right now they have 4 quarterbacks currently on their roster. All of the Steelers quarterbacks are on a one-year deal with the Steelers through 2021. Kevin Colbert made it clear the Steelers are 'wide open' going into the 2021 NFL draft, but it is very doubtful the Steelers are going to trade up in the first round. So could the Steelers be planning to draft a mid-round quarterback in the 2021 NFL draft?

It is likely the Steelers could pull the trigger on a mid-round quarterback like Kyle Trask. The Steelers seem very high on Trask going into the NFL draft and according to Andrew Filliponi some of the Steelers organization fancy him. In fact, Filliponi has heard the Steelers have Trask ranked ahead of at least 1 of the perceived top 5 quarterbacks. Those top 5 quarterbacks are Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones, and Justin Fields.

Early in the offseason, an unnamed GM said the more he sees of Kyle Trask play football the more he sees Trask in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform in the near future. This GM also says he has known Kevin Colbert for a very long time and Trask fits the profile of a quarterback that Colbert would like to draft.

The Steelers could be looking for a quarterback in the later rounds, but I am not sure Kyle Trask will land where the Steelers would like him to land in either the 3rd or 4th round like Mason Rudolph did. If the Steelers do end up with a rookie quarterback it could look like Rudolph, Haskins, or Dobbins will be the odd man out heading into the 2021 season. Look for a very big battle to go on during the Steelers 2021 training camp if they do indeed take a quarterback in the 2021 NFL draft.
