The Pittsburgh Steelers were in attendance at the Clemson pro day today. Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert, and Matt Canada spent a lot of time with Clemson's head coach Dabo Swinney today. They also watching Travis Etienne go through drills and run the 40-yard dash.
Clemson running back Travis Etienne said he had a zoom meeting with both Mike Tomlin and Matt Canada today. Etienne thinks with his versatility he'd be a good fit in Matt Canada's offense according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.
Travis Etienne on joining Matt Canada's Offense: "I feel like it'd be a perfect fit. I feel like he would use me in ways to get me into the mismatches, those one-on-ones that I feel comfortable in winning. I feel like it would be great. He's going to get me out there, in a position to make plays."
Travis Etienne did show his value during Clemson's pro day by running a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash.
It seems like the Steelers are showing some interest in both Travis Etienne and Najee Harris. I think if both are there with the No. 24 pick I would still take Najee Harris. It will come down to who the Steelers feel will best fit their system when it comes time to drafting. Najee Harris could be picked by the Dolphins with their 18th picks so that would leave Travis Etienne and Javonte Williams for the Steelers. It is best to do all of your homework on every single running back especially if you're committed to bringing the running game back to how the Steelers are used to running.
