The 2020 Pittsburgh Steelers defense is on pace for the Triple Crown

The Steelers Defense has been the biggest bright spot for Pittsburgh during this season and prior seasons. There is no question they're a group of elite players with several first-round draft picks. They're now on pace to get the triple crown which is something quite special. Yes, the ultimate goal is to get the Lombardi, but you cannot overlook how special this accomplishment would be for the 2020 Pittsburgh Steelers. Only three defenses have ever made it to December leading in all three categories (Sacks, Takeaways, and Fewest Points). They're the 1985 Chicago Bears, 2000 Baltimore Ravens, and 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars. Now the 2020 Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into December leading in all three categories.

Currently, they lead in sacks (41), the most takeaways (23), and the fewest points (188). No defense has ever accomplished the Triple Crown in the Super Bowl Era. That is why it is so special to see the 2020 Steelers on pace to obtain it. The only downside is the Steelers could decline in these stats due to key losses in Bud Dupree and Devin Bush. That is not taking away anything from Robert Spillane and Alex Highsmith because they could come in and create havoc, but missing the athleticism of Dupree and Bush really hurts. This also will force Mike Tomlin and Keith Butler to become very creative when filling in for both Dupree and Bush. Regardless the Steelers have enough talent on the Defense to continue on the path they have been going down which is an elite path. Only time will tell if the Steelers will be the first team in the Super Bowl Era to get the Triple Crown which would just add to the Steelers Historic Defenses in Franchise History. It would be incredible to see them pull it off.
