The Pittsburgh Steelers could go into the 2022 offseason with over $100 million in cap

The 2021 offseason has not been too friendly to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Many free agents have gone onto the open market and decided to walk from the organization. Bud Dupree was one of the first Steelers to join a different team. Dupree ended up getting paid with the Titans. Matt Feiler, Tyson Alualu, and many others will be joining a new team in 2021. This is not surprising that players are leaving because the Steelers cap issues have finally caught up with the organization and they came at the wrong time, unfortunately.

The 2022 offseason should be much different for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They can potentially go into the 2022 offseason with over $100 million dollars in cap space, but they will have no one on their team. Ben Roethlisberger, TJ Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Steven Nelson, David DeCastro, Mason Rudolph, and others will be looking for new contracts in 2022. This could give the Steelers the much-needed break to keep TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick for the future. TJ Watt could potentially be the highest-paid linebacker the Steelers have ever paid too.

2022 could be the year the Steelers really take a step back and revamp their entire team. It would be a good idea to stop being so loyal to the older veterans and start getting younger in 2022. The Steelers also need to find a quarterback of the future. Ben Roethlisberger does not have many years left and once he leaves the Steelers will be stuck without a franchise quarterback. That will become a huge headache playing in the AFC North because all 3 teams have their franchise quarterbacks for the future. So if you're sad about this offseason with the Steelers don't be because in 2022 the Steelers could potentially come into the 2022 offseason with a ton of cash. Be patient and good things will come.
