The Steelers announced today that they've signed defensive end T.J. Carter. Carter was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Cardinals following the 2020 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. Carter didn't last long in Arizona, however, as he was released before the start of training camp. He also spent time with the Saints last preseason.
Carter is the fifth player that the Steelers have signed after seeing them work out at pro days. The three other players are wide receiver Tyler Simmons (Georgia), linebacker Jarvis Miller (UMass), wide receiver Mathew Sexton ( Eastern Michigan) and outside linebacker Jamir Jones (Notre Dame).
Carter started 28 of the 50 games he played at Kentucky and finished with 71 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, six sacks, five passes defended and 10 quarterback hurries.
