The Steelers announced today that they've placed inside linebacker Vince Williams on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The position is already decimated with Devin Bush out for the year after suffering an ACL tear in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and Robert Spillane is dealing with a knee injury after getting hurt in the game against the Washington Football Team on Monday.
With Williams out for Sunday night's game against the Buffalo Bills and Spillane likely to be out, it looks like Avery Williamson and Marcus Allen will be the two starting inside linebackers. Allen is a hybrid linebacker/safety, who plays the linebacker position when the Steelers go to some of their sub-packages.
It's the second time this year that Williams has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, as he was deemed a "high-risk" close contact to Vance McDonald when it was announced that he tested positive the day after the game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. Williams was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday, Nov. 14 and played in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals the next day.
