According to CBS Sports, the Steelers are tied with the Panthers for the 12th hardest schedule in the league in 2022. The full 2022 NFL schedule will be released on May 12, but the opponents for each team have been known for months. The Steelers play the AFC East and NFC South this year, and their AFC South and AFC West opponents are the Colts and Raiders, respectively. They host the Raiders and travel across the state to play the Eagles for their NFC East opponent.
When you add up all the games, the Steelers won't have to travel outside the Eastern Time Zone all season. They'll travel just 6,442 miles, which is the fewest in the league. The furthest west they'll go is Indianapolis and the furthest trip in total will be to Miami.
While the travel schedule for the Steelers isn't daunting, their schedule on paper isn't nearly as tough as last year's when they had the hardest schedule in the entire league. The Steelers play six playoff teams from last year -- Bengals (twice), Bills, Buccaneers, Raiders, Patriots and Eagles.
Looking at the schedule on paper, outside of the Bengals, the Bills and Buccaneers are really the only opponents that you can categorize as "elite teams." However, so much can change in a given year in the NFL, so you really never know who and who isn't going to be good. One thing is clear, though, the AFC North should be highly competitive in 2022. The Bengals are coming off a trip to the Super Bowl, the Ravens reloaded in the draft , and the Browns have Deshaun Watson now.
Below is the complete list of opponents for the Steelers in 2022.
Home: Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Patriots, Jets, Buccaneers, Saints and Raiders.
Away: Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Bills, Dolphins, Falcons, Panthers, Eagles and Colts.
