The Steelers had their final practice of the week today at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side in preparation for their game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Tyson Alualu (knee) did not practice all week and is out for Sunday's game. Mike Hilton (shoulder) and Stefen Wisniewski (pectoral) were both limited at practice today and are doubtful for the game. Vance McDonald, who missed practice today with an illness, is listed as questionable.
Isaiah Buggs (knee) was limited at practice yesterday but was a full participant today. Buggs is not on the status report. With Alualu ruled out, Buggs will fill in at nose tackle.
"I am ready, and I am prepared," Buggs said. "Learning from Tyson, (Stephon) Tuitt and Cam (Heyward), those guys I have been around for two years. Just watching those guys, learning how they play and do things around here, I am sure I am ready for the opportunity."
Mike McCarthy still won’t name a starting quarterback for the Cowboys for Sunday's game. It will be either Cooper Rush or Garrett Gilbert under center. Andy Dalton was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday and Ben DiNucci, who struggled in his first career start, won't be considered. According to Aditi Kinkwabwala of the NFL Network, the Steelers are expecting Garrett Gilbert to be the starter.
Cowboys' running back Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) was limited at practice today and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Defensive end Aldon Smith (knee) and linebacker Joe Thomas (wrist) are also listed as questionable. Smith was limited and Thomas was a full participant on Friday. Punter Chris Jones has an abdomen injury and was put on injured reserve on Wednesday. Hunter Niswander will fill in at punter, who the Cowboys signed last week to the practice squad.
