It appears that the Steelers are interested in former longtime Seahawks inside linebacker Bobby Wagner. Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network said Wagner's name is "being thrown around a lot" in Steelers talks. A league source also told Jordan Schultz that the Steelers are interested in Wagner along with several other teams. The Steelers head into free agency with nearly $30 million in cap space.
The Steelers arguably had the worst inside linebackers duo in the league last year with Devin Bush and Joe Schobert. Wagner turns 32 in June, but he's still an eight-time Pro Bowler and has six first-team All-Pro nominations. Wagner would be a great addition to the Steelers defense, and he would be an excellent mentor for Bush, who had a poor 2021 season after coming off an ACL injury. The Steelers finally have amble cap space to get a player of Wagner's caliber, too.
