Should Ben Roethlisberger Retire after the 2021 season?

Ben Roethlisberger is coming back for the 2021 season. This is also thankfully at a reduced salary. His initial cap hip was just ridiculous for what he was putting out on the field.

Still, he's a great quarterback in this league, who is definitely Hall of Fame-bound. There is no doubt about it. The Steelers are lucky to have had him. He helped bring us from four Super Bowls and then took us to six Super Bowls.

The Steelers still might look to bring him back for the 2022 season. Hear me out. I think that they could bring him back at a bargain price and then Ben Roethlisberger can help mentor the Quarterback we pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. I think having Ben and the future Quarterback in the same room would be a favorable situation.

I think if Ben Roethlisberger does decide to come back, I think he would be more accepting of being in a mentorship role just because of his age.

I still think perhaps he could outplay a Rookie QB and maybe that said Rookie QB sits behind Ben for a whole year. Who knows, if Ben Roethlisberger is hurt or his play degrades, we could still have a backup plan for that season.

Do you think I'm wrong in assuming that the Steelers need to invest a high draft pick in a Quarterback in the near future? I think if we find that guy that we can imagine being the future, we need to trade the draft capital in order to pick that player.

I think Ben Roethlisberger should stick around as long as it's for the right price. I think he's an outstanding Quarterback and he deserves to go out with another ring. I'm hoping this season is the season. However, the Steelers have a lot of work to do.
