Shannon Sharpe: "JuJu Smith-Schuster is nothing more than a glorified WR2"

JuJu Smith-Schuster has been making the rounds in regards to the National Media lately because there has been a debate on whether JuJu will stay with the Steelers or walk in free agency. It seems much of the National Media feel JuJu Smith-Schuster will leave the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency. It's common sense to have that opinion because Pittsburgh is having a hard time in regards to their cap in the offseason.

Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless took on this debate together last week in regards to the Steelers possibly not signing JuJu in the offseason. Sharpe says 'Corvette, Corevette' looks to be moving on and he is not surprised by this one bit. He continued to say "anyone that knows the game of football or has played the game of football knows JuJu Smith-Schuster is a glorified WR2." JuJu got those numbers because all the attention went to AB. Sharpe says the Steelers have moved on from great wide receivers like Santonio Holmes, Emmanuel Sanders, Mike Wallace, Plaxico Burress... Only AB and Hines Ward got contracts after their rookie seasons.

There were some good points by Sharpe, but I am willing to bet if the Steelers had the cap room they would bring JuJu Smith-Schuster back. The biggest issue is in regards to the cap here not with JuJu Smith-Schuster's play on the football field. He has been extremely consistent as a slot receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he is not a WR1. So I do agree with Sharpe on not paying JuJu as a WR1. Even Rod Woodson says you can't pay JuJu $16 million a year because JuJu cannot run the whole wide receiver tree. It's not taking a shot at JuJu it's just speaking facts and the Steelers know this as well.
