After interviewing 16 candidates, including six who had second interviews, the Steelers have reportedly hired Steelers vice president of football and business administration Omar Khan as their next general manager, according to multiple reports.
Khan replaces Kevin Colbert, who was with the Steelers for 22 seasons. Khan has been in the Steelers' front office since 2001 and is known to be a cap guru.
The Steelers have also reportedly hired Pittsburgh native and Eagles vice president of player personnel Andy Wiedl as their new assistant general manager. Weidl began his career in the NFL with the Steelers as a player personnel assistant from 1998-99. He worked for the Saints and the Ravens before joining the Eagles’ front office in 2016. Weidl was responsible for overseeing the Eagles’ personnel department, and was highly regarded by Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman.
