Earlier in the week, JuJu Smith-Schuster went on the "All Things Covered” podcast with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden. He made some comments that said he would like to see the Pittsburgh Steelers bring in Sam Darnold if the Jets decide not to pick up his fifth-year option.
“That my guy, man. Sam Darnold," Smith-Schuster said. "If we could get him to Pittsburgh, I would, But I love Ben, so it is what it is. I’m just saying he’s a great kid. I played with him, so he’s one of my boys. So I wouldn’t mind playing with him again.”
Retired Steeler Ramon Foster went on 93.7 the fan in Pittsburgh and said he cringed when he heard Smith-Schuster's comments.
“I saw that and a cringed, I’m not going to lie, I cringed because when you have a franchise guy in Ben Roethlisberger who Ben said he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and JuJu’s up for a contract year that says a whole lot about. I don’t know I wouldn’t have said it, but I love Ben so it is what it is."
Ramon Foster did say maybe Smith-Schuster's comments were made in "jest."
