Pro Football Focus says the Steelers Best Draft Pick in the past 5 years has been TJ Watt
TJ Watt has been one of the most dominant linebackers in the NFL over the past 4 seasons. So dominant he has 49.5 sacks in 4 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watt has had himself quite an offseason so far after being snubbed by the AP for Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020. When he was snubbed this season for DPOTY he posted a meme with Jordan saying... and I took that personally.
Since then Watt has shaved his head and got back to work with his brothers to make a run at it again in 2021. TJ recently posted on Twitter his recovery with his brothers. They decided to cut out a square in his frozen lake in their backyard and turned it into an ice-cold tub to help his muscles heal.
Pro Football Focus recently wrote an article called The best draft decision for each NFL team in the past 5 years. According to Michael Renner, the Pittsburgh Steelers' best draft pick in the past 5 years has been TJ Watt. Renner says the 2017 edge class was very similar to the 2021 draft class in that it was all over the map. Derek Barnett, Charles Harris, and Taco Charlton were all picked before TJ Watt. Watt, however, had a sneaky good production with a 91.0 pass-rushing grade in 2016 and is an all-around exceptional athlete.
Exceptional TJ Watt is, but the disrespect he has been getting will hopefully make him become an even bigger monster on the football field than he has been. It will probably take at least 20 sacks in a season for the AP to finally put some respect on his name. Watt is capable of getting 20 sacks in a season like his brother JJ Watt and should be more motivated heading into 2021 which is a contract season. The Pittsburgh Steelers better get ready to back up the brinks truck because TJ Watt is going to get PAID in the near future.
