Andrew Stockey of WTAE had a 30-minute one-on-one interview with Troy Polamalu near his home outside of San Diego on Monday to discuss his life now, his days in Pittsburgh and his upcoming Hall of Fame induction.
Polamalu said he's a soccer dad now and he described his two sons as "Yinzers" still even though they live in Southern California.
“It's my home, it's my children's home," Polamalu said of Pittsburgh. "They’re Yinzers, they already want to move back. What do you expect, one of them is like a true Yinzer, he’s like miserable, wakes up miserable, that’s what a Yinzer would do, a Yinzer would wake up and see blue sky and be like ‘it’s miserable outside, I’m staying inside, this weather sucks ... I’m not going to the beach it’s too hot out there ... Where’s my Primanti Brothers?'”
Primanti Brothers caught wind of what Polamalu said about his two "Yinzers" sons missing Pittsburgh and sent Polamalu a message on Twitter. ".@tpolamalu Hey - your Primanti Bros. is right here. And we'd love to send some to you through @goldbelly. Shoot us a DM and we'll get the details. #Yinzers."
Polamalu's wife, Theodora, is still involved in a number of charitable causes in Pittsburgh. Polamalu will be formally inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 7 and will be presented by his longtime defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau.
Along with Polamalu, Bill Cowher and Donnie Shell will be enshrined as members of the Class of 2020 on Aug. 7. In addition, Alan Faneca will be enshrined as a member of the Class of 2021 on Aug. 8. Bill Nunn was enshrined in April as a member of the Class of 2021 and will be recognized during the ceremony, as well.
