Notre Dame TE Tommy Tremble could be an Underrated Prospect for the Steelers in the 2021 Draft

Zackary Napolitano

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be walking into the 2021 NFL draft with many positions needing to be filled. Their 2021 offseason has been pretty brutal in regards to losing some key players, but it could have been way worse than it actually played out. The Steelers still ended up keeping JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyson Alualu which helped heal the sting a little for losing Bud Dupree, Matt Feiler, and Mike Hilton. The organization had no choice, but to let some key free agents walk because the Steelers were dealing with some cap issues.

Regardless of their cap issues the Steelers generally are not big players in free agency. The organization loves to build its team through the NFL draft. That is how the Steelers operate. Once they draft the players in the NFL draft the Steelers will then fill their holes after the draft once the dust settles. The tight-end position is a need in Pittsburgh, but the offensive line and running back positions should come first this season. With that being said the Steelers could get a good tight-end in the later rounds of the draft and one of those players could be Notre Dame's Tommy Tremble.

Although Tremble did not put up the statistics many people love to see from a tight-end he does block exceptionally well. In fact, Tremble was ranked the nation's best-blocking tight-end by Pro Football Focus last season in College. If the Steelers want to improve on their run-blocking Tremble can help the team exceptionally well.

With Vance McDonald's retirement, the Steelers are definitely in the market for another tight-end because that just leaves them with Eric Ebron heading into the 2021 season. Tremble can line up in the H-Back spot, in the slot, as the move tight-end, or as a tight-end blocker. That makes Tremble a very versatile tight-end.

Although TE Pat Freiermuth would be the ideal fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers he could be gone in the earlier rounds, but Tremble can fit nicely in the Pittsburgh Steelers scheme in the later rounds of the 2021 NFL draft. That could allow the Steelers to draft at offensive line and the running back positions early on while filling in the need for the tight-end position in the later rounds. Tremble is an underrated prospect. Put it this way, Tremble would be a better option than TE Jesse James at this point for the Steelers.
