The NFL informed teams today they can begin Phase 1 of OTAs on April 19, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Pelissero states that players are still allowed to work out at the facility in small groups, which has been occurring for many, and that the NFL and NFLPA will continue to discuss virtual vs. in-person meetings and on-field work soon thereafter.
Pelissero also says there is hope for spring practices this year, even if meetings remain virtually.
With vaccines now available and if the NFL continues to have players and staff tested every day, I think there's a good possibility that in-person OTAs will return this spring, but still have meetings virtually. That would certainly be good news for rookies and young players trying to develop.
