Many linebackers heading into the NFL draft will always be compared to Legendary Pittsburgh Steeler linebackers. One of them is linebacker Azeez Ojulari who is projected to be drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. Azeez is an outside linebacker and it seems the Steelers do not need an outside linebacker in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft because they have TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith. You never know if Azeez does end up falling out of the first round the Steelers have shown interest in him by attending Georgia's Pro Day.
Azeez was a redshirt freshman his first year with the Georgia Bulldogs, but he did manage to play in 3 games as a reserve. In 2019 he led the Bulldogs with 5.5 sacks and was the co-winner of the team's Most Improved Player of the Year Award. Fast forward to his senior season with the Bulldog's and he is considered one of the most productive linebackers to play in NCAA football in 2020.
Not only is Azeez considered a first-round prospect, but NFL.com has compared him to Steeler's former linebacker Joey Porter. Many Steeler fans know Joey Porter was one of the great linebackers in Steelers history as he put up 98.0 career sacks over 13 NFL seasons. He also recorded 667 total tackles during his time in the NFL. So that is a pretty big endorsement NFL.com is giving Azeez Ojulari.
It will be interesting if the Steelers will end up drafting a linebacker in the 2021 NFL draft. I think if they do decide to draft one they should take an inside linebacker before an outside linebacker. It would be more beneficial to get another big prospect to put next to Devin Bush. That would secure the middle of the field for many seasons to come. Azeez Ojulari is a very interesting prospect and only time will tell if he will be on the Pittsburgh Steelers heading into the 2021 season.
