Mike Florio and Peter King believe the Steelers will regret bringing Roethlisberger back by November
The saga between Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers finally came to an end this offseason after they came to terms with a new one-year contract. Much of the media were speculating if Ben Roethlisberger would retire this offseason. That doesn't seem to be the case as Ben Roethlisberger would like to take one last ride in Pittsburgh. Is it the right decision by the Pittsburgh Steelers? Peter King doesn't think so.
Mike Florio and Peter King recently sat down to discuss if the Steelers made the right decision to bring Ben Roethlisberger back. Florio believes the Steelers will regret their decision to bring Ben back when November or December comes around. Peter King agrees that the Steelers will eventually regret their decision. Florio doesn't know if the Steelers wanted to give one last ride with Ben Roethlisberger to the fans this year because of how the Steelers ended their season in 2020 or they just want to delay ripping the band-aid off at this point.
Peter King would hate to see Ben Roethlisberger regret his decision to come back because of the great career he has had in Pittsburgh. King did say if Ben Roethlisberger does re-dedicate himself to show up at Training Camp in great shape or better shape than he was at the beginning of 2020 he would change his thinking toward Ben. The problem Peter King has with Ben Roethlisberger is he seems to be getting slower every year and the NFL just keeps getting faster. He feels Ben Roethlisberger is too heavy and would do much better with losing 20 pounds of weight.
King feels Ben Roethlisberger will not do the Tom Brady Diet in the offseason. He said he just won't do it. If Peter King was Art Rooney II or Mike Tomlin he would have talked to Ben Roethlisberger during negotiations saying he needs to show up in better shape to camp in 2021. Ben needs to find a way to become faster and have better escape ability in the pocket.
King says we don't even know what the Steelers offensive line will look like going into 2021 and Ben has lost his security blanket with Maurkice Pouncey. So it is hard for him to see why the Steelers have decided to bring him back.
