The Steelers could leave rounds one or two without their desired running back. So, I decided to compile a small list of potential players who would be there toward the middle of the draft, and if the Steelers could consider these said players.
Trey Sermon Ohio State- This is a player I got to watch down the stretch last year, he's a very solid player. I think he could develop to be a very strong running back and with him, I would just want to see more consistency and see him continue to make that jump to the next level. However, with Trey injuries are a concern. I would just keep that in mind. However, when healthy, he's a very strong pass catcher and a natural runner. Would be interested to see where he lands.
Chuba Hubbard Oklahoma State- Chuba is electric. He's incredibly fast and he can definitely catch the ball. I could see this player being someone the Steelers would consider. However, I would opt to take the bruiser like Trey Sermon instead. However, I would definitely be excited about getting a guy like Chuba. This is just a potential playmaker the Steelers have been missing. He's also only 21 years old.
Kenneth Gainwell Memphis- Just like fellow Memphis alum Antonio Gibson on the WFT, Kenneth might excel well in the NFL. I think he could fit well in the Steelers' offense and provide some of the same abilities Le'Veon bell brought to us as a team. Man, I miss that man in his prime. Once again, he's a brilliant pass catcher and the Steelers would definitely benefit from the skill set this player offers.
