Rookie center Kendrick Green had a tumultuous season in 2021, as he often got dominated and overpowered by defensive linemen. He quite simply just looked out of position. Ben Roethlisberger even said on the DVE Morning Show in early January that the Steelers should move Green to guard, which is what he mostly played at Illinois. Green made just four starts at center in college.
After a rough first year, Green is now training with Maurkice Pouncey in Florida. Pouncey posted a photo of him and Green on Instagram on Monday morning with a caption, "The grind never stops. Working while others are sleeping." Green is training with Pouncey at AK fitness 247, which is where Pouncey has long trained.
It's good to see Pouncey take Green under his wing and show him the ropes of what it takes to be an offensive lineman in the NFL. It will be interesting to find out how the two got linked up. Perhaps Ben Roethlisberger made a call to Pouncey, and that's how the two got to know each other. Or Pouncey could have just reached out to Green or vice versa.
