The Steelers announced today that they have signed offensive tackle Jerald Hawkins off the Texans' practice squad. In a corresponding move, the team placed Zach Banner on the reserve/injured list after he suffered a knee injury on Monday night against the Giants.
Hawkins was selected by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and was with the team up to late August of 2019 when he was traded to the Buccaneers along with the Steelers' seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft in exchange for the Buccaneers' sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft.
Hawkins played in one game for Tampa Bay and was signed by the Texans on Aug. 10, but was waived on Sept. 5 and was added to their practice squad.
