JuJu Smith-Schuster was at The Star in Texas on Wednesday for a 7-Eleven event with Cowboys quarterback Dan Prescott, and he revealed that he's "most likely" headed for free agency, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
Smith-Schuster also said he wouldn't mind catching passes from Prescott in Dallas, along with taking a little jab at the Steelers.
"The Steelers are still working on trying to get out of the wooden locker rooms,” Smith-Schuster said in reference to the Cowboys' luxurious facilities.
On Monday, Smith-Schuster posted on his Instagram Story, "It's been real Pitt!" The video also showed his car going into a truck. It was really unclear what Smith-Schuster meant by the post. A lot of people pointed out that he could just be going back to Southern California where he's from for the offseason. But it appears that Smith-Schuster might want to join another team, especially with Ben Roethlisberger retired and if the organization goes ahead with Mason Rudolph at quarterback.
Smith-Schuster also asked on TikTok, who will be the next QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while watching a video of Rudolph running during the Week 16 game against the Chiefs.
It really all depends on the quarterback position if Smith-Schuster is going to be back in the black and gold in 2022. And I really don't think he wants to play with Rudolph. I can't blame him either. Going from Roethlisberger to Rudolph as your quarterback is huge drop-off.
Smith-Schuster almost signed with the Chiefs last year during free agency but re-signed with the Steelers because he wanted to make one last run with Roethlisberger. Smith-Schuster stayed in Pittsburgh out of loyalty to No. 7, and with Roethlisberger now retired, Smith-Schuster might want to have a fresh start with a new team in a new city.
