Former Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor was on Shawn Merriman's "Lights Out Podcast" last week and talked about a myriad of topics ranging from Taylor's love of cigars to his passion for boxing and the mindset that the Steelers defense had when he played on the team.
Taylor said he is a big fan of the sport of boxing and spars often to stay in shape. Taylor says he goes to Houston a lot to spar with fellow New Orleans native welterweight fighter Regis Prograis.
Taylor also said he started sparring in 2005 when he was in Pittsburgh, but he didn't start really getting into it until after he retired following the 2014 season.
Merriman asked Taylor if he ever sees himself doing a charity fight and Taylor said he wants to box a former NFL wide receiver.
"A matter of fact, I saw (Brandon) Marshall train and I'm willing to spar anybody," Taylor said.
Merriman followed by asking Taylor if he's really with it about getting in the ring with Marshall. And Taylor said he's 100 percent.
"Man, I get in the ring with anybody," Taylor said.
It would be interesting to see if Marshall takes Taylor up on his offer. Recently, Marshall has been getting in heated discussions about NBA contracts being fully guaranteed to every player.
Below is a clip of Taylor delivering some punches with the gloves on.
