The Steelers need to begin to think about the future. This draft is full of studs in all rounds. However, you can't ignore the chance to get a future quarterback and if any of these two guys are obtainable, you need to take that chance in getting them. It would be a shame to miss out on Najee Harris or an offensive lineman. However, it might be worth having a backup plan in case Roethlisberger gets hurt or decides he's done.
However, if you do this, you could miss out on the chance of bringing a skill position player such as a running back or you could miss out on bringing a talented offensive line player in the first round if you do this. It's a risk at this point you have to take.
Ben Roethlisberger's "last ride" is quickly approaching and the Steelers need to stay out of QB purgatory for the future. Especially with the three other QBs in the division all in an upward trajectory. It would be nice if the Steelers can follow suit and find that young guy to compete against these guys.
Is it such a bad thing that the Steelers get a player that can sit behind Ben for a year? No, because after Ben is done you can unleash this player after learning from one of the better QBs to ever do it. I know it's not a happy thought, but Ben's time is almost up and we need to be ready to compete immediately and not have to rebuild.
