It was reported on Saturday by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network that the Steelers were signing guard/tackle Joe Haeg. Haeg was with the Buccaneers last season and was a fifth-round pick out of North Dakota State by the Colts in 2016. We now know the details of Haeg's contract.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, Haeg signed a two-year deal worth $4.6 million. He has a base salary of $1 million this year and will receive $2.1 million in 2022. Haeg also got a $1 million signing bonus and will earn a $500,000 roster bonus on the fifth day of the 2022 league year.
Haeg stands at 6-foot-6, 304 pounds and has 38 starts under his belt in 67 career games.
Zach Banner and Chuks Okorafor are projected to be the starting offensive tackles this year and the Steelers could select a high-end tackle in the first two rounds of the draft. Haeg will probably serve as the Steelers tackle eligible when they go to a jumbo set.
