Former Steelers Assistant GM Doug Whaley says thank you for what you have done but its time to go

Yes, another Ben Roethlisberger article coming your way. Doesn't it seem like we have had plenty of them lately? Honestly, I think the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger love the speculation. Anyways let's deep dive into this. Former Steelers Assistant GM Doug Whaley joined 93.7 the fan today to discuss the state of the Steelers. The future of Ben Roethlisberger came up during their conversation and Doug said a few interesting things today in regards to Ben Roethlisberger.

Doug was asked what he'd be doing right now if he were Ben Roethlisberger's Agent?: "If I'm Ben's agent, I'm looking at the quarterback carousel. I would have looked at the Colts. I would be in touch with the Bears. I'd be proactive. Make a decision sooner rather than later."

Whaley says the Steelers could actually cut Ben Roethlisberger in the offseason. He says the Steelers were here way before Ben and they will be here when he is gone. Doug thinks 60% of him feels Ben Roethlisberger will stay with the Steelers and 40% thinks he will be gone from the Steelers in 2021. The Steelers will have a plan and it's going to end up being in Ben Roethlisberger's hands whether he likes the plan or not.

What would Doug do if he was still in the Steelers Front Office making decisions?: "Me personally, I would say 'Thank you, Ben, you're the best, we wouldn't have two Super Bowl trophies without you, you will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, we'll play in the Hall of Fame game when you're inducted, we will have you back to put you on the wall, but thanks for your service, we're gonna have to go in a different direction for both of us."
