Leading up to the start of the regular season, The Athletic counted down the 100 best players of all-time with a daily article on a specific player. There were eight former Steelers players on the list -- Dermontti Dawson (No. 99), Mel Blount (No. 77), Terry Bradshaw (No. 69), Mike Webster (No. 57), Jack Ham (No. 52), Jack Lambert (No. 37), Rod Woodson (No. 26) and Joe Greene (No. 14).

The Steelers are tied with the Packers with the most representation in The Athletic's top 100 players ever list.

I think The Athletic got it right for the most part in regards to past Steelers players, as Greene is without a doubt the best player in the franchise's history. However, they had former Ravens' free safety Ed Reed ranked at 39th and Troy Polamalu didn't even make the list. I just think if you have Reed as a top 100 player, Polamalu should be on there as well.

The Athletic's series concluded on Wednesday and Tom Brady was ranked as the best player of all-time. You can see the entire list below, courtesy of the Football Stat Page on Instagram.
