The Browns struggled to keep up with the 1-13 New York Jets Sunday without their top four wide receivers. Kevin Stefanski said they would expect their close contact players to return to practice by Thursday if they test negative on their Covid-19 tests. This is a big game for the Browns because they will have to run through the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in order to get into the playoffs. It is not known yet whether the Steelers will play their starters on Sunday or not because Tomlin did not tip his hand during his postgame press conference after the Colts game yesterday.
The Browns Jarvis Landry and Jedrick Wills are on the close contact Covid-19 list and eligible to come back against the Steelers as long as they test negative this week. The players on the Browns that were deemed close contact were all in the same recovery pool together which was not a violation according to the NFL. All of the close contact players did not test positive for Covid-19 either. So it was done out of an abundance of caution, but it could end up costing the Browns their entire season if they don't beat the Steelers on Sunday. The Browns will need all they can get on Sunday because the Steelers beat them 38-7 at Heinz Field in Week 6. This also could be set up as a Mason Rudolph vs. Myles Garrett battle again which makes things even more interesting. Stay tuned for the season finale game on Sunday in Cleveland.
