Bouchette says he would trade back from the No. 24 pick to the No. 30 pick if he were the Steeler GM

The Steelers organization will be limping into the 2021 NFL draft after losing almost all of their free agents in the 2021 offseason. The problem the Steelers have is they have mismanaged their cap situation and it finally caught up to them in a big way. Bud Dupree, Matt Feiler, Mike Hilton, and possibly JuJu Smith-Schuster are likely to be on new teams going into the 2021 season. The Steelers will need an almost near-perfect draft to overcome their losses in the 2021 offseason.

Ed Bouchette recently released an article listing the 5 moves he would make if he was the Steelers GM. The first thing Bouchette would do is trade back in the 2021 NFL draft from the No. 24 pick to the No. 30 pick to try and get more draft picks. He says the odds are against the Steelers drafting a high-end tackle near the end of the first round in the draft. Although he said it doesn't mean they can't find a good tackle in the first round. Bouchette feels the best left tackles will be gone by the time the Steelers pick so why not try and trade back to get more draft picks.

The NFL draft calculator says the Steelers could move down six spots and end up getting a third-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft according to Bouchette. He says the Steelers could trade with the Bills, Chiefs, Packers, and Buccanneers because all 4 teams are in win now mode. So there could be a trade partner if the Steelers look for one.

Bouchette says the Steelers may be in win-now mode for Ben Roethlisberger, but they need to start looking at their future beyond 2021, and getting an extra draft pick could help add to their 2021 draft value. Even if there isn't a tackle there should be a running back by the time the Steelers were to pick if they trade down six spots in the first round. The problem for myself is if Najee Harris is there at pick No. 24 no way am I trading that pick. I will take him in a heartbeat. That would give the Steelers the game-changing running back they need to help give the Steeler's offense the push they need in their running game.
