Bleacher Report believes TJ Watt will become the Richest Defensive Player in the NFL soon

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have the most cap going into the 2022 offseason. Things will be much different for the organization than they were during the 2021 offseasonn, but they will need to find a way to lock up both TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick which could be very costly. TJ Watt should come first before Minkah Fitzpatrick, but I believe Fitzpatrick has shown he should be locked up in Pittsburgh for the foreseeable future especially if Ben Roethlisberger is going to ride off into the sunset soon.

Typically the Steelers organization do not like to break the bank for players in the offseason, but I feel they have no choice but to keep their backbone on the defensive side of the ball in Pittsburgh. They MUST sign TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick to a long-term deal during the 2022 offseason. I would not let them even get a whiff of free agency because teams will be throwing insane money around for both players and the Steelers will find themselves in a bad place in regards to saving some cap space.

Bleacher Report feels TJ Watt will sign a mega-contract sometime between the 2021 season and 2022 offseason in Pittsburgh. The organization should back up the brinks truck for TJ Watt because if they lose him and many key veterans in 2022, I would expect a complete rebuild in Pittsburgh. The organization does not like to rebuild, but rather they like to reload as you can see what is going on during the 2021 offseason.

One of the reasons why Bleacher Report feels TJ Watt will sign a mega-contract is because of his ' eye-catching pass-rushing numbers.' They feel he will sign a five-year, $145 million dollar deal with $105 million as being guaranteed money. That would make him the NFL's richest defensive player in the NFL topping Joey Bosa and Myles Garrett.
