Ben Roethlisberger is massively overpaid

Ben Roethlisberger is the fourth highest paid Quarterback in the NFL. He is just behind Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson. One thing that sticks out to me here is, the most successful Quarterback on that list (Tom Brady) has a salary of 25 million. That is 17 spots down the list.

Tom Brady took smaller contracts because, it was better for the team as a whole. The team was able to use that money and put good players around him. That held true until his last few years in New England. Still, it’s crazy how players like Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz are higher up on the list than him. Even Jacoby Brisset has a higher cap hit than Tom Brady.

It’s just crazy how much value a franchise quarterback takes up, it makes sense, however, there is definitely a need for some of these guys to take less. Especially when they aren’t playing up to their contract.

Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t been doing that as of late. Beginning of the season he was. However, now he isn’t. It sucks to say, however, you cannot deny the truth of that statement. We now have so many holes on this team, it’s very hard to ignore that huge cap hit and wondering what the Steelers could accomplish if it was off the books. However, without Big Ben where would we be? Most likely another 8-8 season… However, at some point we need to go through that to reach the Super Bowl again.

He deserves all the respect in the world, however, we haven't been able to get over the hump and perhaps having more cap room to get that game-changing player would help getting over the top and beating a team as good as the KC Chiefs.
